bbg is a brighton-based collective of djs who want to platform each other as non-binary, trans, women, queer and gender non-conforming folk within electronic music. we run regular beginner’s dj workshops, open-decks, and host a monthly radio show featuring women + gender minority djs from across east sussex.
what we’re up to:
bbg basics
we have run two fully-booked ‘bbg basics’ courses, which are funded 5-part workshop series for gender expansive folks + women to give them the basic skills they need to get started with DJing, and a supportive community to learn alongside - ‘It's been brilliant. Like I couldn't express my admiration without resorting to poetry’. we also run one-off workshops, and are always looking for people to collaborate with. drop us an email at bbgbrighton@gmail.com if you want to book us for a workshop, or want to know more. read about our autumn 2024 course here.
come find us at our monthly open decks, on the 2nd thursday of the month from 8-11pm at the actors. entry is free, slots are 15-30 minutes each depending on numbers. open decks slots are for specifically gender minorities and women, but we welcome all to come along and enjoy the music. slip ups and clunky moments very much welcomed, we're all learning and are embracing collaboration > perfection ❤️
the venue has step-free access, gender neutral toilets, and an accessible toilet.
open decks

bbg on soundcloud

say hello
we are always looking for djs and electronic artists who would be interested in continuing to build our non-hierarchical network. we are planning inclusive club nights, radio shows, and workshops that will help others learn how to DJ and make electronic music. we want to build safer clubbing cultures and accessible learning spaces where people feel encouraged to experiment, play, collaborate and celebrate one another.
if you wish to join us on this mission - you don’t need to live in Brighton! - please get in touch via the contact form below :-)
drop us a line if you’re a dj - experienced, novice or total beginner; electronic music artist; designer; photographer; events organiser; or if you have any other fab talents that you think could help build bbg. we hope to provide a platform and space for as many gender minority, queer and women artists as we can <3
